To develop high level skills through the exploration of diverse literary and non-literary texts across various platforms to understand how language shapes identity and culture. Through the analysis of different text types and genres, students develop advanced communicative proficiency which will lead to an appreciation for the power of language and literature, encouraging creative self-expression and an understanding of diverse global perspectives through the acquisition of receptive, productive, and interactive skills in the English and French languages.

Embedded in an inquiry-based class, students become knowledgeable individuals who analyse how language works in terms of shaping meaning and culture. As communicators, they express themselves creatively and ethically, navigating unfamiliar contexts with open-minded curiosity. By exploring diverse literary and non-literary works, pupils remain reflective and caring toward global perspectives, encouraging inquirers to be risk-takers, using the language to foster imagination and a profound understanding of the world.

The programmes we have adopted for our curriculum encourage pupils to develop comprehensive skills by integrating listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and presenting. MYP Language Acquisition focuses on fundamental communication and cultural empathy, while English B and French B (DP) advances these into sophisticated receptive, productive, and interactive competencies. English A emphasizes literary analysis and critical thinking. Together, these frameworks empower students to navigate diverse global contexts, interpret and evaluate complex texts, and express original ideas with creativity.
